With DAYS being unable to maintain a consistent set of younger actors, it's very frustrating that DAYS willingly chose to write off Belle and Shawn. DAYS could've gotten several years of storyline out of the Shawn/Belle/Phillip/Chloe quadrangle, and Shelle could now be used to connect the storylines and fill the gap between the early twenty-something characters and the late-thirties/early forties characters.

Even if Brandon Beemer wasn't a good fit for Shawn, Martha Madison (in my opinion) was an excellent fit for an adult Belle. And Martha actually wanted to stay on DAYS! Plus, Claire (who was born in January 2005) could now be SORASed into a 15-year-old, and she could anchor a new set of teens that includes JT and Joy Wesley.

Anyway, I know the article was about Camila Banus, but every time a younger actor leaves, it just reminds me of the gap in the Salem age groups that could easily be filled by Belle, Shawn, and a SORASed Claire.
I agree 100%. The Belle/Philip/Shawn/Chloe quad was the best thing that they had going for them back in 2008. And it was tossed aside like yesterday's trash. Dumb.

The difference is the ones that are leaving now are pretty easy to recast.
And have much less interesting stories and characterizations in the first place.
Exactly! After his entire run on the show, can anyone explain who Chad was? It would be so easy to recast the role, and you could go anywhere with him, and start over.
[/quote]If they can successfully (imo) recast Will, who is also part of a fairly popular couple, they can certainly recast characters like Chad and Gabi who haven't really been all that well developed by the writers.

That idiot Higley was responsible for that move. Quickly ending what was being developed with Shawn, Belle, Philip, and Chloe was such a mistake. Although, she brought Ari Zuker back, so I can forgive her a bit.

I am going to miss CB. I was not a fan of Gabi in the beginning but she really did grow on me and Camila did became a better actress. Her working with Blake really did help her too. So much wasted potential/sl with them but I did enjoy them together. And I wish her good luck.

TPTB should try to have some of these young actors back, propose them a shorter stint (3-6 months) with a good storyline. I feel like that's pretty much what happened with Blake Berris, they signed him again for 6 months and then his contract was extented to a year and then another year.
I like that idea. The young ones keep leaving because the show gives them precious little breathing room to explore other opportunities while they are on contract. If I was young and ambitious, I would find it stifling and would leave as soon as the contract is over.

Aww! I am going to miss Gabi! Loved her with Nick & her sibling chemistry with GG was so sweet. Her scenes with Freddie are always fun & I really enjoyed her with Sami & Kate as well. Good luck Camila!

The decision to write out Belle and Shawn and keep them gone for the past five years is mind boggling. And Phillip and Chloe should be in town too. There's an entire lost generation of characters that should be driving story right now.
